The Moment the Distance Felt Real
In April 2023, I was visiting my family back home. One evening, in the middle of a comfortable conversation, my dad mentioned a random sentence, entirely out of context. It was a subtle, almost dismissible moment, but it lodged itself in my mind. Little did we know that just a few months later, his cognitive abilities would rapidly deteriorate.
When I returned to the UK, the full extent of his challenges became painfully clear. The distance became a wall. Simple phone calls turned into moments of shared stress—the fumbling to answer, the confusion of a complex screen, the isolation he felt when he couldn’t operate the tools meant to connect him.
I was living the same experience many of you know: the deep, aching need to provide care and support for a loved one, while feeling oceans apart.

Yet, as I searched for tools, I quickly discovered a critical gap: at the point of my dad’s illness, there was no affordable, simple, and globally available solution designed specifically for families like ours. Everything was either too complex, too expensive, or restricted by geography. This crucial lack of a simpler, cheaper solution is what prompted me to solve this issue for families just like mine.

Shirish Basant Rai
I founded BondNow, driven by a deep personal mission rooted in my experience as a caregiver. I am a Chartered Engineer with 12 years of experience in the Telecommunications and technology industries. After completing my Master’s at Imperial College, I spent 10 years architecting high-security, robust software and system architectures for major Telco companies.
This expertise ensures BondNow is built on an uncompromising foundation: our security protocols meet global infrastructure standards, and our systems are designed to be utterly reliable and simple.
I applied my extensive technical knowledge to create a system focused entirely on Empowering Ease and Love & Care, building the secure, stress-free connection solution I needed for my own family.
