He is home from hospital. The first few weeks are the hard part.

The carer comes twice a day. In between, nobody is there, and you are at work trying not to think about it. BondNow gives you a way to look in on him whenever you need to, without him having to reach a phone or press anything.

What the discharge letter does not cover

The clinical side is organised. It is the twenty two hours a day nobody planned for that keeps you awake.

He is slower than he was

Getting to the phone before it stops ringing was manageable a month ago. It is not now, and neither of you wants to say so out loud.

The gaps between visits are long

Fifteen minutes in the morning, twenty at teatime. The rest of the day is his own, and that is exactly what worries you.

Nobody has time to learn anything

This was not planned. You are managing medication, appointments and your own job. A gadget that needs setting up is not help.

Look in on him without asking him to do anything

The device arrives ready. It sits where he spends his day, screen always on. When you call, your name is announced out loud on his device, and the call connects itself in about ten seconds. If he is in another room, it waits, and connects when he comes back.

  • Check in at lunchtime from your desk, without arranging it
  • The carer can share a photo or a short video after a visit, if the family wants that
  • Gentle spoken reminders, set from your phone
  • Everyone involved can be in the same circle, so you are not relaying news to your sister

Please read this part properly

BondNow is a companion, not a safety system. It is not a monitored alarm service and not a medical device. It does not call 999, it does not detect falls, and it must not replace telecare, a pendant alarm, or the care package you have been given. If you are arranging support after a discharge, arrange those things too. BondNow is the part that keeps him connected to you in between.

Practical questions

How quickly can it arrive?

We ship it configured and ready to use, so there is nothing to set up when it gets there. Order it and it is on its way. If timing matters because a discharge date is fixed, email us and we will tell you exactly where you stand.

Will the carers have to do anything?

No. The family runs it. If your care agency wants to be part of the circle and share the occasional photo after a visit, they can be added, but nothing about BondNow depends on them doing so.

He is confused after the hospital stay. Will that matter?

No. That is the situation it is designed for. He does not need to remember anything, recognise an icon, or find a button. Your face appears and your voice is there. Nothing is asked of him.

What if he improves and does not need it?

Then that is good news. You have 60 days from delivery to return the device for a full refund, and the first two months of subscription are free, so nothing else will have been taken. You can also cancel the subscription at any time later, with no minimum term.
